Reunion Cruise 2009

Many of you have responded stating that you are interested in or are planning to attend the USS Horne 2009 Reunion to be held onboard the 855 foot Carnival Elation. We had a great reunion in 2003 and we feel this 2009 edition could be even better. There is just one slight problem I'm hoping you can help me with.

Slightly more than 50 people responded to say they will attend or are interested in attending the 2009 Reunion. Unfortunately, this just isn't enough people to meet the minimum attendees required in order to get the Carnival rates we were quoted.

We had over 3 times that many people attend the first reunion in 2003... (with only 500 people listed on the decklog) so I'm confident we'll have even more attend the Reunion Cruise (now with nearly 1,100 people listed on the decklog).

And... more than 150 people have signed up to receive the Reunion Newsletter... so I know the interest is there... I just need to hear from you!

So please... once again... if you are going to attend or are INTERESTED in attending the 2009 Horne Reunion Cruise please email me and let me know.

I'll be meeting to form a new Reunion Committee next week and the first order of business will be to take these numbers to Carnival.

So... EVEN IF YOU'VE ALREADY CONTACTED ME ONCE... I need you to email me if you are interested in attending the 2009 Reunion so I can get an
accurate count. Kind of like in Florida... we need a recount!

True to its name, you'll feel your spirits soar as soon as you board the Carnival Elation. Relax in the sun on the teak-planked decks, or plunge into any of the three refreshing swimming pools. Make your way to any of the eateries for a delicious meal. Or, roll up your sleeves and try your luck in the friendly casino before turning your attention to the exciting nightlife.

The USS Horne 2009 Reunion Cruise will depart San Diego on Thursday March 26, 2009 at 1600. We spend a day at sea on Friday March 27th and arrive at Cabo San Lucas, Mexico at 8am on Saturday March 28th. We begin our return trip Saturday afternoon at 1600 and spend another full day at sea on Sunday March 29th. We return to San Diego at 8am on Monday March 30, 2009.

4: Reservations

THE MAIN PURPOSE of this initial Newsletter is to guage interest in the Reunion. With over 1,000 former crew members now listed on the Decklog we anticipate a good turnout and need to determine how many rooms to set aside at the above prices for Horne Reunion Attendees. We are not yet taking reservations... but if you are interested in and think you may be able to attend the 2009 USS Horne Reunion, please email me and let me know. We do not require a deposit at this time... we are just trying to determine how many cabins to reserve at these prices. Once this initial block of rooms is booked additional rooms may still be available but the prices above will not be guaranteed. Since the reunion is 1 year away the prices will almost certainly increase. So if you are interested in and think you will be able to attend the 2009 Reunion Crusie please email me and let me know ASAP!
